Steve Gillan

Steve is a founding Partner at Philanthrope. He leads executive and non-executive search, working with founders, management teams, and investors to appoint leaders who drive growth, improve governance, and deliver long-term value. He designs and leads search processes that align talent strategy with organisational needs and result in lasting, values-led appointments.

He has spent the past decade in three of the UK’s leading private equity search firms, supporting hundreds of leadership appointments that drive strategic and cultural change. He has particular experience helping high-growth, investor-backed SMEs strengthen their teams with financial and commercial expertise.

He also co-leads Philanthrope Capital, the firm’s sustainable investment arm. He works with founders and boards to deploy capital into mission-aligned ventures, supporting leadership, governance, and growth without compromising purpose.

Steve is a Trustee of Ways Into Work, a supported employment charity for disabled people, and has a long track record supporting non-profits and social enterprises pro bono.
