Finance Director | eCommerce | Investor-backed
London, UK

Board Executive

About the Role
We are supporting a high-growth consumer business to appoint its first permanent Finance Director. Reporting to the CEO and founder, you will join the statutory board and take full ownership of financial planning, reporting, and control. The business has moved beyond early-stage operations and is now investing in structure, discipline, and forward planning.
You will lead the transition from founder-led to finance-led decision making. This includes introducing monthly board reporting, building a cash forecasting model, strengthening pricing and inventory controls, and preparing the business for future funding discussions. There is budget and board support to hire, outsource, and modernise systems as needed.
Finance will be at the centre of how the company allocates capital, plans growth, and protects margin. You will need to operate at pace, balancing hands-on responsibilities with board-level reporting and commercial support across all departments.
Requirements
We are looking for a finance leader with a strong operational foundation and the ability to work across strategic and tactical levels. You must be confident working in an environment where decisions are time-sensitive, information is imperfect, and the cost of error is real.
Essential:
· ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified with a sound technical base
· Prior ownership of budgeting, forecasting, and cash management
· Experience in a product-led business with significant e-commerce revenue
· Comfortable managing gross margin, stock, and pricing decisions
· Able to build a finance function with minimal legacy constraints
· Clear written and verbal communication, including board-level reporting
· High integrity and commercial pragmatism
Preferred:
· Experience in a growth-stage or investor-backed company
· Exposure to equity funding processes and investor relations
· Familiarity with the systems and rhythms of a scale-up environment
About the Organisation
The business is a British consumer brand operating across direct-to-consumer and wholesale channels. It has a loyal customer base, strong repeat revenue, and a clear sense of purpose. Revenue is currently in the £8–12m range and growing at over 20 percent annually.
Backed by a leading growth equity investor, the business is investing in operational maturity while staying close to its values. The founder and leadership team are commercially focused and product-led, with a strong bias towards action and delivery.
The company culture is fast-paced, open, and execution-driven. Decisions are taken seriously, and financial clarity is seen as a foundation for sustainable growth. This role is central to ensuring the business scales without losing commercial control.
